You should continue to look on this page for communications. If you have read the What Should Faculty be DOING NOW section on this page, you know that we are advising you to export content from your current course shells – especially those that contain student content that you may need later.
The Provost is requiring all faculty who use the Learning Management System (courseware) to complete the self-paced training.
Training Resources Self Paced
If you haven’t signed up for a training account for Desire2Learn self-paced training please register at the PASSHE site https://secure.passhe.edu/asa/elt/Pages/Training.aspx
When you have received your confirmation email (within 48 hours – check your junk mail folder if you do not receive it!!) login using the TRAINING credentials provided to the Desire2Learn self-paced training located at https://community.desire2learn.com/ These credentials are ONLY for your training modules.
- Click on the SPARKS icon (that is the name of their training module) in the upper right corner of the page.
- Click on My Community Courses in center of the page.
- Click on the student tab in My Community Courses, then click on Sparks – Training for Instructors.
- Click the content link in the navigation bar on that page to get into the modules.
Training Resources Face 2 Face and Help-Workshops
You will be using your TRAINING credentials for Face2face workshops. The content in the self-paced training and in the face to face workshop (full day) is the same.
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE SELF-PACED TRAINING, WHO ARE TEACHING FIRST SUMMER SESSION, and who might require more assistance, Desire2Learn will be providing a face-to-face training on March 31 and again on April 1 in Memorial 103. This is an all-day session for one day LIMITED TO 15 PARTICIPANTS beginning at 9am -4pm.
CT will be offering a simultaneous workshop in Memorial 102 for those who have completed the self-paced instruction and just want to have some questions answered with our own LMS consultants.
Two more D2L training sessions and CT workshops will be offered on April 6 and April 7 for SECOND SUMMER and FALL participants.
To reserve space in any of the 4 D2L training sessions please send email to Connie Beckman(cbeckman@mansfield.edu) with your requested date for training. Remember that the face to face training is limited to 15 participants each day.
The workshops are not training sessions and pre-registration is not required. We do need to assist Summer course offerings first and then Fall offerings. School Library instructors will be assisted through the transition by Dr. Schankman and he will contact those instructors separately.
When will I see my courses?
The Summer 2008 and Summer 2009 courses are being loaded on 3/15/2010. As soon as the infrastructure is completed at our Production Environment (https://mansfield.desire2learn.com/), you should see those courses under My Courses on your login page. PASSHE is still working out the infrastructure and login process for this site. We are hoping this is available prior to the onsite training visits beginning March 31.
