The Alumni Citation Award recognizes contributions to society through professional, civic and philanthropic work. After graduating from Mansfield with a B.S. degree in Home Economics in 1983, Wanda Storms Stroud joined the United States Air Force and earned a degree in Public Relations.
Following her stint in the Air Force, Wanda used her skills to become a Communications Coordinator for The Disney Store in Burbank, California. While at Disney, she and her husband Jim were involved with Disney VoluntEARS where Wanda was a Project Leader and a Project Volunteer for numerous community service projects including Treepeople, Permanent Charities Earthwalk, Aids Walk, Special Olympics and Project Literacy.
In 1995, Wanda became the Vice President for Operations of Golden State Medical Supply Company, the largest pharmaceutical supplier in California with annual sales of more than $15 million.
Wanda and her husband Jim recently made a significant planned gift to the Mansfield University Foundation that will one day provide scholarships to deserving Mansfield University students.
