The Distinguished Educator Award recognizes outstanding service and dedication to education. Donna Baier Dorey is a sixth grade teacher in the Keystone Central School District where she also serves on numerous committees and as the District Program Leader for Environmental Education K-12.
She was instrumental in establishing the environmental center in the district, and recently helped write the Environment and Ecology Standards for the state of Pennsylvania. She is well known across the state for her facilitation of many nationally recognized environmental education programs, and has taught these lessons at Penn State and Lock Haven University for their pre-service students.
In 1995, Mrs. Dorey was recognized by the Clinton County Conservation District for her accomplishments in conservation education and was nominated for Outstanding State Conservation Educator. In addition to her environmental contributions, Mrs. Dorey is also an accomplished grant writer, having had sixteen funded proposals in the past seven years.
In 1993 and 1997 she was honored with the International Paper EDCORE Foundation’s award for Excellence in Grant Writing.
