After graduating from Mansfield, Ron was a high school English teacher in New York, Michigan, and Australia. He received his Ph.D. from Michigan State University in 1976. For the past 30 years he has been a medical education teacher, consultant, and researcher. At Wright State University School of Medicine Ron was named Teacher of the Year six times for his teaching in the areas of research methods, biostatistics, clinical epidemiology, and evidence based medicine. At Wright State he was also awarded the title “Distinguished Professor of Teaching”, the only faculty member from the medical school so honored in the history of the university.
Last year he received the prestigious Glaser Distinguished Teacher Award, the highest recognition for medical school teaching in North America. Ron, an educational psychologist and biostatistician, is nationally known for his contributions to medical school curriculum reform, faculty development, and program evaluation. As both a professor of medical education and internal medicine, he has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers in medical education and clinical medicine journals. Ron has given over 150 scholarly presentations at regional and national professional meetings.
In August 2000 he accepted the positions of Health Futures Foundation Professor and Director of the Center for Medical Education at Creighton University.
