The Outstanding Young Alumni Award, established in 1986, recognizes exceptional professional performance and achievements of alumni who have graduated in the last twenty years. Since graduating from Mansfield University in 1990 with a B.A. in Biology, Arthur DeMarsico has dedicated himself to helping others through extensive clinical research and practice in the medical field. DeMarsico earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in 1995 and received the Wilbur P. Lutz Memorial Award for outstanding physical diagnosis skills.
During his general surgery residency at PCOM, he was named the “Resident of the Year” each year of his training. He was selected as Chief resident for two years, and received first place at the national level in the Division of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery for his work in experimental grafts for aortic surgery. DeMarsico joined the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Institute of Central Pennsylvania, Inc. in 2001, and currently serves as the director of Vascular Services and chairman of the Peripheral Endovascular Intervention Committee. He is board certified in General and Vascular Surgery and remains active in numerous professional organizations including the American Medical Association.
While at Mansfield, DeMarsico served as captain of the varsity football team and was nominated as an Outstanding Senior candidate by the Biology Department. He received the Mansfield University Act 101 Recognition Award in April 2001, and has been the keynote speaker at various campus events. He continues to be involved with the Legacy Club for the MU football team and with MU Admissions.
DeMarsico resides in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania.
