2007-2008 Grant Awardees

The Grants Development Office would like to recognize all of the faculty, staff, and students who received grant funding from external agencies for research, education and training programs, arts and cultural programs, and public service projects. In another record-setting year, the University received just under $2.2M in grant awards from many different government and private agencies. Congratulations to all of the awardees, and all the best of luck with these and future programs.

The Act 101 Program: funded by Pennsylvania Department of Education. $131,000 awarded.

Lee Bostic: Benjamin Wiley Partnership Project, funded by the PASSHE Diversity Office. $74,000 awarded.

Center for Lifelong Learning: Study for a Transportation Institute. Joint award between MU and Lockhaven University. $235,000 awarded over three years.

Cyndi Compton &Christina Bove: Adult Basic Education, GED and Family Literacy Programs, funded by Pennsylvania Department of Education,$186,802, and grants from the National Book Bank Foundation, $6000.

Jocelyn Cooledge & Jessica Trump: The TRIO Student Support Services program, funded by United States Department of Education. $220,000 awarded annually.

Jennifer Demchak & Russ Dodson: K-12     Watershed Education Outreach Program, funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Environmental Education. $14,971 awarded.

Scott Dimarco: Asian Studies Library Collection, funded by Northeast Asia Council Association for Asian Studies. $1,084 awarded.

Tammy Felondis: Health Awareness Programs, funded by APSCUF. $2,000 awarded.

Christina Fry: Education Assessment and APL Training, funded by the PASSHE Faculty Professional Development Council. $3,750 awarded.

Human Resources: Multicultural Training, funded by the PASSHE Diversity Office. $6,500 awarded.

Vincent Jenkins: Project SUPPORT for Retention, funded by the PASSHE Office of Diversity. $6,200 awarded.

Tim Madigan: Ford Fellowship to China, funded by the Ford Foundation. $2,250 awarded.

Tim Madigan & Janice Purk: Mansfield State­wide Survey, funded by the PA State Education Association, and the Joint Legislative Conservation Committee, $12,000 awarded.

Gary McIntyre: Instructional Equipment, funded by the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters. $6,000 awarded.

Financial Aid: Nursing Scholarships, funded by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Foundation. $91,131awarded.

Christine Moulton: Flute Studio Music Presenters - Tami Tango Trio, funded by the Bradford County Regional Arts Council. $3,000 awarded.

Julia Overton-Healy: MU Internship Program, funded by PASSHE Internship initiative. $30,000 awarded. Leadership and Life Skills Program, funded by the C. Charles Jackson Foundation. $5,000 awarded.

Denise Seigart, Christina Fry & Lindsey Sikorski: The Summer Leadership Academy, funded by the PASSHE Diversity Office. $12,069 awarded.

Lindsey Sikorski: WEDNetPA workforce training programs, funded by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development. $351,872 awarded.

Richard Soderberg: Fisheries Research, funded by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. $16,000 awarded.

Jim Welch: Fire Prevention and Safety Program- MU and Mansfield Hose Co., funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. $23,518 awarded.

Nanci Werner-Burke and Richard Heyler: The Endless Mountains Writing Project, funded by the National Writing Project, $45,000, $9,000 from partner school districts, and $3,500 from Michael’s Books.

Steve Stein: Vegetation Survey and Land Assessment, funded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. $47,764 awarded.

John Sternick: Genomic Education Equipment, funded by an educational grant from LI-COR. $52,000 awarded.

Chris Vaughn, Jocelyn Cooledge, & Rachel Green: Adopt-A-School, funded by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency. $5,000 awarded.
