Mansfield University Home PageThe goal and purpose of our "Star System" is to improve the quality of the Greek program at Mansfield University. Creating and implementing an assessment tool has proven effective at many other Colleges and Universities. It helps promote prominence in Greek Life, and will be used to "put the Life back into Greek Life".
Our steering committee, the Tau Upsilon Chapter of Order of Omega, will continue to help develop and refine this plan. Order of Omega is a National organization founded in 1959.
It's purpose:
- To recognize those fraternity men and women who have attained a high standard of leadership in inter-fraternity activities, to encourage them to continue along this line, and to inspire others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment;
- To bring together outstanding fraternity men and women to create an organization which will help to mold the sentiment of the institution on questions of local and intercollegiate fraternity affairs;
- To bring together members of the faculty, alumni, and student members of the institution's fraternities and sororities on a basis of mutual interest, understanding and helpfulness;
- To help create an atmosphere where ideas and issues can be discussed openly across Greek lines and to help work out solutions.

The 2001-2002 academic year was used to establish the plan, which was quite successful. The system is now in its 7th year, and going strong!
The Star System holds our Greek societies more accountable.
We reward the organizations that excel in service, academics, and campus/community involvement, and we will the organizations that contribute negatively to the Greek system by helping them make the changes necessary for success.
We will continue to strive for a healthy, prominent Greek System, and we welcome suggestions, questions and concerns. Please help us in our endeavors!
