Mansfield University students have the opportunity to study in Canada through two exchange agreements.

Through Mansfield’s International Exchange Program, students can study at either Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario, or at   Cape Breton University College in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Each of these Canadian universities matches very well with Mansfield in the programs offered, locale, environment, and student population. Students will pay Mansfield tuition and can arrange for either a transfer of room and board fees or arrange their own housing with the help of the Canadian Studies Resource Center at Mansfield University and Mansfield’s International Studies Office. Students who are accepted into an exchange program are eligible for a Mansfield Travel Scholarship to help cover the cost of their round trip transportation to the exchange university.

The language of instruction at both universities is English, and students will be able to choose from a wide variety of courses offered at each university. Courses will be chosen in consultation with the student’s advisor, the Canadian Studies coordinator, and the host institution.

Each of the two universities has particular strengths. Students interested in environmental studies, social welfare, community economic development, criminal justice, psychology, history, geography, women’s studies, native studies (including native education), education and nursing may wish to consider Nipissing University. Students interested in international politics, government, community economic  development, Celtic Studies, environmental health, anthropology (including specialized studies in Mi’kmaq history, language and culture), psychology of health and environment, biodiversity, sports studies and religious studies may wish to consider Cape Breton University College.

Students who are interested in these programs should have a minimum of a 2.8 GPA. Completed applications would require two letters of recommendation and the approval of their academic advisor. For more information on these programs please contact Bob Timko - phone (570) 662 - 4744.
