Courses

The Institute of Political Science proposes a general program covering every aspect of the social sciences. International students will acquire the working methods that gave French IEPs their reputations: note taking, research reading and oral presentations. This methodology is linked to the study of general current issues, with a particular emphasis on economic, political and social questions.

Introductory training course

Students staying in Toulouse for the whole academic year attend an intensive three-week program in September. They are offered general knowledge about French language, French institutions, and local history. At the end of this introductory program, a series of written and oral tests determine which courses they are allowed to choose.

Fall semester

International students attend three methodology courses:

  • French
  • Culture and Society
  • Writing Techniques

In addition, they choose six courses among the ones proposed to French students. The IEP delivers a five-year degree divided in ten semesters. Every international student has automatic access to the lectures of semesters 1 and 3 (first and second years of the degree). International students who successfully passed the introductory tests have also access to the lectures of semester 7 (fourth year). Here are, for example, some of the courses you can attend:

Students can write a research paper for additional credits.
Exceptionally, they also have the possibility to replace some of the previous lectures by courses from Toulouse's other universities (including Toulouse Music Conservatory).
