Mansfield University is committed to student and community leadership development. Mansfield University's undergraduate program is a liberal arts based institution with strong professional programs. Undergraduate students will be provided opportunity to develop leadership skills in the following ways:
- In major courses of study
- Campus activities specifically designed for leadership development
- Residence Life
- Internships
- Service learning shadowing and community involvement
- Leadership scholarships
- Opportunity to attend regional, state and national leadership programs

The University provides funding for selected students to attend state and national leadership programs.
Starting in Fall 2007, the University will have a leadership speaker/workshop series on campus available to students, faculty, staff and the community.
Mansfield University is in the process of creating a Leadership Institute for the purpose of forging community and corporate partnerships for leadership development providing linkage opportunities for faculty, staff and students. The Institute will also provide a variety of opportunities for student internships.
The university is also developing a Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership. The degree will be delivered mainly on-line. It will encompass a core curriculum and tracks for various disciplines such as business, education, health professions and the arts.
