Personal Statement:
- My background is in clinical and community psychology and my interests are primarily in communities, natural support systems, and their effects on people. I teach about and study rural communities in particular and their unique impact on the health and mental health people who live in them.
- I have a long interest in peer counseling and the support aspects of "intentional communities." I also am interested in leadership, counseling skills, alternative dispute resolution strategies, and the psychological aspects of dealing with death and dying.
- My formal undergraduate courses include Helping Skills, Theories of Counseling, Career Planning, Death and Dying, and courses on leadership.
- I am directly involved in a number of local and state agencies and organizations, such as the Laurel Health System and the Tioga County Partnership for Community Health.
- I enjoy teaching and direct involvement with student learning and growth. I have a keen interest in how students develop as emerging leaders.
