WOMEN’S CENTER
"A place where women and men can live in a climate of mutual respect, understanding, and equality, and where women are encouraged to reach their fullest potential."
About the Center. . .
The Dr. Margaret Launius Women's Center at Mansfield University seeks to promote equity for women by addressing issues such as sex-role stereotyping, networking, self-defense, women's health, domestic violence, and sexual assault.
The Women's Center is a space in which people work collaboratively to foster the educational, professional, and personal development of diverse groups of women. The Center provides education and support to all members of Mansfield University regarding gender issues, with the goal of promoting an inclusive and equitable campus community.
All women and men (students, faculty, staff) are welcome to use the Women's Center services and resources.
The Center operates under the Department of Student Affairs and is staffed by a director, student work-study, and volunteers. The Women's Center works cooperatively with the Women's Studies Minor. Campus organizations, such as the Women's Studies Steering Committee and the Mansfield University Rape Educators and ConTacts, use the Center to hold meetings.
You can participate in discussion groups, volunteer opportunities, films, lectures and workshops sponsored by the Women's Center which is located in 321 Alumni Hall. You can also have one to one conversations with the staff, get information about women's groups, and borrow books, videos, magazines, pamphlets and files for research and class projects.
