Debt Management

**Please send all correspondence and questions for this module to your TRiO advisor**

Step 1:

Review the Debt Management PowerPoint presentation - I recommend that you DO NOT view the PowerPoint presentation as a slide show, so that you can read the notes below each slide (when applicable).  In order to do so, right click on the link and click on "Save Target As"; then click on "Open".

Be able to answer the following questions:

  1.  What is credit and what are the advantages/disadvantages of credit?
  2.  What are credit scores and how are they determined?
  3.  How can you use credit and credit cards wisely?
  4. What is a debt to income ratio and how is it used?
  5. How can creating a budget be helpful for you?
  6. What are the key factors of a good debt management program?

Step 2:

Complete a sample budget.  Be as realistic as possible...Use the tips set forth in the Debt Management PowerPoint.

Email your completed budget as an attachment to your TRiO advisor.  Your sample budget will be reviewed and you will be sent feedback as needed.
