Step 1:

Review the Debt Management PowerPoint presentation - I recommend that you DO NOT view the PowerPoint presentation as a slide show, so that you can read the notes below each slide (when applicable).  In order to do so, right click on the link and click on "Save Target As"; then click on "Open".

Be able to answer the following questions:

  1.  What is credit and what are the advantages/disadvantages of credit?
  2.  What are credit scores and how are they determined?
  3.  How can you use credit and credit cards wisely?
  4. What is a debt to income ratio and how is it used?
  5. How can creating a budget be helpful for you?
  6. What are the key factors of a good debt management program?

Step 2:

Complete a sample budget.  Be as realistic as possible...Use the tips set forth in the Debt Management PowerPoint.

Email your completed budget as an attachment to jtrump@mansfield.edu.  Your sample budget will be reviewed and you will be sent feedback as needed.
